I _would_ totally abuse my power, but I figure the reaction from the
theists will be worth all the time spent cleaning up spam in and of
itself. :)
Hi theists. I realize from your perspective, this means I've been
given all kinds of authority and privileges that you don't have. I
normally try to dispel this myth, but as a moderator I now feel it is
my duty to help perpetuate it. In reality, we aren't just dignified
janitors like I've said all this time. Google sends us all kinds of
free prizes and stuff. It's great, honestly.
Thanks to Dag for setting this up, and my fellow mods Trance and
BlueSci.
Okay, let the shitstorm proceed. And please, don't hesitate to speak
your mind. Dev the Moderator is always there with open ears,
mind...and heart.

If you aren't going to be better than Dev, you don't really have cause
to critcize him.

Because God forbid that people might have some qualms about someone
who has called for the deaths of theists in general AND specific
theists -- whether joking or not -- becoming a moderator which is
supposed to be an unbiased position ...

why do you say that?
could it be because i don't follow pagan rituals?
If Dev ever bans someone merely because of their beliefs or opinions,
he'd be tossed faster than rotten meat. His PERSONAL stance on
religion or anything else is irrelevant to his moderating the group,
until he proves otherwise. I've seen Dev's comments for a few years,
now, and he's been adamant that NO ONE should be censored, unless
they're spammers.

Because stating all atheists don't have a heart is as stupid a thing
to say as most of the generalizations Dev makes about theists. That's
equally bad no matter which side is doing it.

Do you not think that how things look matters wrt moderators? It's
nice that you have such faith in both Dev and in the process that
would remove him as a moderator, but why should any new participant
share that faith in Dev and the process? If the group is perceived as
being biased against theists -- and having a moderator who is STRONGLY
anti-theist ( to the point of, as I said and you snipped, making
comments wishing or advocating their deaths, even as a joke) can
certainly give that impression, don't you think that that might cause
theists to not join the group? Do you think that this group would be
better off if any theist with any inclination to actually debate
instead of insult simply refused to join or participate in it?
